3 in 1 Jackets

3 in 1 waterproof jackets can be worn three ways because they consist of 2 separate jackets, the insulating jacket and the waterproof shell.

The insulating jacket

The layer closest to your skin. Either a fleece or synthetic insulation layer that can be worn on its own or zip it directly into the waterproof shell layer to keep you warm. Some brands will use their own brand of fleece however Polartech is a regular choice.
The insulation is generally a synthetic insulation which will keep you warm even if it gets wet.

The outer shell as a light weight waterproof jacket

This layer is made of waterproof material and can be relied on to keep you protected in rainy conditions. The fabrics used vary considerably from own brand waterproof fabrics like AQ2 and Hyvent to Gor-Tex membrane.

The insulating and waterproof jacket

Worn together, the insulating layer and waterproof jacket are your protection against the elements. Both jackets zip effortlessly inside one another to create an extremely versatile piece of kit.
