Lofting is when your bag starts to puff up and it transforms like a caterpillar to a butterfly, from a small roll into a fully fledged sleeping bag ready to take you off to the best nights sleep ever.

In a nut shell down is lightweight, durable, it has very good heat retaining properties and it packs down to a small percentage of it's full size. This it what makes down sleeping bags brilliant.
