Meindl Burma PRO MFS Hiking Boot Information

Product Description

The Meindl Burma Pro walking boot is a Gore-Tex lined version of the Borneo and is suitable for extensive walking and moderate trekking. This classic hill boot from Meindl has been specifically re-designed to get the very best out of the mixed and varied terrain that we find here in Britain. Look at any best in test from Trail & TGO, and the Meindl Burma PRO MFS Walking Boot will consistently appear near the top of the rankings - with good reason.

The Burma sole features a Vibram Multigriff grip which gives excellent grip and stability, you also have a vented ankle which constantly pumps the damp hot air out from the bottom of the boot itself. As with all Meindl boots you get legendary German attention to detail, with a hand finished rubber rand along the outside of the boot. The Meindl Burma Pro features a single piece nubuck leather upper  which combined with the goretex membrane ensures there is no danger of your feet getting damp.

Menidl's reputation of excellent quality and well designed and specified boots is now firmly fixed in concrete and these boots are one of our most popular models.

Features

  • Upper: Sil-Nubuck leather

Meindl 5 star boots

1 of 1 people found this review useful
Just purchased these all purpose hill walking & trekking boots and so far so good. Comfortable, waterproof & supportive over rough terrain. Fit like a glove and a superb lacing system means your feet feel as good at the end of the day as they did in the morning. Recommended without hesitation

replacement boots

My previous Miendl boots developed a fault during our recent holiday in Austria. I contacted Webtogs regarding the problem. Both Meindl and Webtogs service was superb and the boots Air Revolution 3.1 were replaced after no arguments. Only quibble was that they didnt have anymore Air Revolutions so i selected the Bumas expecting the same comfort and quality. The replacements were worn for the first time in anger two weekends ago in the lake district. One walk was the 8 mile trot around the Langdale Pikes. The other was a 10 mile bog troting extraviganza around High Raise and surrounding hills. I had not worn them before then to wear them in so was absolutely delighted when after the weekends excersions my feet were absolutely fine. The performance was superb build qualty is the same you cant put a value for money on an excellent quality boot. If these last as long as my first pair of Meindls I will be over the moon only time can tell if this is the case. The Alps and Lakes next summer will surely test them out fully.

Love these boots. I've had the Ladies version for 3 years and bought this pair for my boyfriend. They're an expensive purchase, but mine are still going strong and I reckon they will for a long time. They feel very sturdy and they never let the water in, and for me their wide fit is perfect.

New boots

Delighted with the service from Webtogs, particularly the no-quibble easy returns policy. The Meindls are, of course, Meindls so no probs there. Good price too.

second pair

I bought this pair to replace my original ones as they were half a size too small (my fault as I hadn't taken into account one foot being slightly larger than the other). Haven't worn these yet but the previous ones were warm, water proof and very supportive. I used the wax on them and this really kept them in good condition. Looking forward to using my new ones in the next week.

Many Boots To Try

I will be doing the 3 peaks in June and needed to get my first pair of decent boots. After being warned away from The North Face Jannus, I tried a pair of Mammut Mt Crest boots with memory foam. The boots were really nice but I all too soon realised that I must have a sightly higher instep on my right foot and ended up with pins and needles.

I then tried a pair of Mammut Teton boots which were very comfortable, from the first time I put them on, however I had also ordered a paid of Meindl Burmas too. Although both were comfy (I was trying them at home), the Meindl's won out. My decision was made on various things:
1) I thought that the leather would wear better and be easier to clean,
2) The memory foam would allow me to lace the boots and provide a great fit,
3) the sole was stiffer and seemed to be better.

I guess time will tell.

I went for the first walk at weekend and they were great! No tight spots, rubbing or cramps. After 2 hours and 6 miles up and down my feet felt great. I can't wait for the next walk.

Obviously each to the their own, but after trying several boots (there were more than those mentioned) these seem great.

An excellent Xmas present

My wife bought me a pair for Xmas, (I'd dropped enough hints), and I received them from Webtogs before Xmas despite all the travel/delivery problems - excellent! Walked in them for the first time on a 9 mile walk in the snow. They were comfortable, warm and kept my feet dry. I did find I had to adjust the tongue positioning in my left boot during the walk but it may have been my fault for not ensuring I had got it in the correct place to start with. I will be using them a lot in the coming months but for a first time out I am very impressed. I will be interested to see if my initial thoughts change as they 'break in'. However I would certainly recommend using Webtogs to anyone wanting a fast, friendly service.

Top of the pile walking boots

I have used these boots on 5 walks in the Peak District in October and November. Most walks have been in wet, boggy and slippery conditions. The boots are very comfortable, water tight and very good in slippery conditions. At the end of the day they were easy to clean and dried out overnight. They are expensive but excellent value for money.

Disappointed

0 of 2 people found this review useful
I had a pair of Meindl boots for years. For that reason I bought the Burma Pro walking boot. However, after one outing with these I set about to clean them and noticed that 6 rivets for the D rings were loose. I can turn them around 180degrees, and so I don´t know how long they´ll last. Not a standard of quality I expected for such a sum of money.

Thanks for the review. D ring rivets will turn, as they are designed to do so. By being able to turn, the rivet is able to line up with the laces to ensure a secure hold. If they were ridged this could lead to discomfort. Occasionally a D ring may pop out, but this is extremely rare. When I clean my boots (which is rare, I know!) I ensure the D rings do pivot round.

Brilliant Boots

This was a repeat order - I had my first pair of these boots about 8 years ago, and find them excellent. I have rather fragile feet with orthopaedic problems, and find these boots brilliantly supportive, and I can wear them all day with no trouble. Probaly the only boots on the market that I can wear. After 8 years of use, inlcuding misuse in gardening, one is just begining to seep a little water in -but the main reason I bought another pair now was that they are so good: I was terrifed that they would stop making them, and then I wouldn't be able to walk at all. Well worth the money - they are really strongly made.
PS thanks for prompt service from webtogs - no complaints there at all!

Webtogs Customer Service

I had occasion to send my Meindl Burma boots back because of a fault in the moulded sole. Webtogs were brilliant sending me a postage paid return label and dealing with my problem quickly with a minimum of fuss. They liased with Meindl and ensured that my boots were repaired with new soles and returned to me as soon as possible. Thank you Webtogs.

Cracking purchase

After 12 years my old Brashers gave out, fantastic boots but time for a change and so i chose Meindl Burma Pro mfs. An excellent choice with both Boots and with Webtogs. Ordered via Internet received conformation by return and Boots arrived 2 days later.
Quick trial of boots along the White Cliffs, fitted like a glove.
Excellent product, fantastic service by Webtogs, well done

Good stuff

I bought this boots last year. We went into Higlandish mountains, where we were deeping in 5 cm of water and we resisted 4 hours, after that we gave up, probably because I had no gators. They have survived other trips with no leak at all (Glen Affric, Craingorms).
The paint has gone, but boots are still performing well and I hope they will last a bit more, for my Crimean and Glencoe treks.

The standard for 3 season boots

Well after my Zamberlans finally gave up the ghost, I decided to replace them with the Burmas. Plus points for me are that they are a great fit, my feet are slightly wider than the norm and the Meindls are perfect, great stability and grip, 3 solid days in the peaks tested the waterproofing. One small note of caution is that if your feet run hot, I would recommend the Borneo's again from Meindl as they lose the waterproof lining.
