The Snowbound Mid's have 200g of Merrell Opti-Warm synthetic insulation added so that in the height of Winter your feet still stay comfortable. There are other features such as a a fleece lining and a waterproof construction which keep you dry and warm.

is Merrell's own synthetic insulating material that they use in their cold weather shoes and boots to keep you warm in areas where the cold can effect you most such as around your ankles and toes.

Merrell Air Cushion -

This is a patented air cushion added to the midsole of Merrell shoes and boots which absorbs shock and adds to the stability. It's engineered to absorb shock with each heel strike to the power of 4 times your body weight. The way in which the heel shape is made ensures that your heel sits central to the shoe and prevents you sliding around which also adds to the comfort and stability of your footwear.
