Designed for and tested by the 1981 Mountain Equipment sponsored Kongur Expedition led by Chris Bonington, the original Kongur jacket proved its worth to the team as they successfully made the mountains first ascent.

Made today in 3-Layer GORE-TEX PRO Shell, the Mountain Equipment Kongur jacket has been designed for all day use in the worst conditions the mountains can throw at you. The detail is fantastic but special mention goes to the hood, which is fully helmet compatible. In fact in our opinion no other jackets have as good a hood as the Mountain Equipment Pro Shell range. Trail Say October 2009........We have loved this jacket for many years, and now Mountain Equipment has added a Mountain Rescue Team version (the Kongur MRT), with extra reflective material and reinforced fabric. The Kongur has not changed much, as it is hard to improve such a great jacket. It’s made from Gore-Tex Pro Shell, top-notch for waterproofness and condensation control. There is a little more length in the body than some other jackets. A double stormflap protects the front zip from rain. Movement in the sleeves is ideal for mountaineering, while the four chest pockets allow hand warming and storage when wearing a harness or rucksack belt. There are pit zips to prevent overheating. The wire-peaked hood fits over a helmet and moves with the head. It’s one of the best jackets around.
