Tech details

675 Fill Power

This down provides a perfect solution for people looking for a warm and compressible down product without it costing the earth. 675 fill power down is also a bit less delicate than higher fill power down making it ideal for prolonged use.

Drilite

is an exceptionally light, highly breathable and water resistant shell fabric which protects down clothing and sleeping bags from dampness. Drilite is used on most Mountain Equipment down items due to it's unique ability to protect down from the weather at such a low weight.

YKK Zippers

are used for their robust and water resistant properties. YKK uses the combination of locking teeth together and a PU coated strip to create a barrier between you and the elements.

Combination Down Construction

- High Altitude and Expedition down gear tend to use a combination of box walled and stitch through construction to reduce heat loss and spread the down evenly across the product while keeping the down in place. Combining the two construction techniques and the finest down create the warmest and and most effective heat retaining products.

A great down jacket

I wasn't sure about the colour of this jacket (amazon/lime green) but ordered one anyway as it was much cheaper than anywhere else. On opening the box I was even more sceptical about the relateviely shiny material. Would it look right? However, that is where my reservations went out of the window! This jacket is so warm and ticks every box - the fit is good (I'm normally medium and this medium fits like a glove), the box construction baffle body feels so well put together (better than my previous stitch through HH)and the pockets are large. I stuck my arm under the tap and the water beads instantly on the Drilite outer, so no probs there then with wet down! I am pleased with this jacket.

Excellent Jacket.

I've had my old Mountain Equipment jacket for 8 seasons and although worn is still going strong....it did very well on a very cold and windy ascent of Kilimanjaro last year.
Therefore I thought I would buy this brand again.
The jacket arrived very quickly and was exactly the the right size and fit...very consistent with my old one. It is a good long length. The construction is of a very high standard. The chunky zip is an improvement over the old skinny metal one, and the additional pocket space is great.
(I could have done with the bottle pocket on my last trip as my water bottle froze in my pack)
The box construction on the body works very well, and is not missed on the arms at all. The cuffs are slightly elasticated but also have a more secure velcro adjustment.
Overall, this looks like a great cold weather jacket, which performs well and should be good for many years.

Good product, happy with purchase

I ordered this jacket in both a size medium and large and black in colour. I'm a 40" chest and 5'10 and I ended up deciding the size large would be best in the long run as it allows a little extra room for layering underneath. The medium did fit but it felt just a little too snug when wearing a jumper.

The labels say; size: M 50-52 and size: L 52-54.

Im also pleased with the black colour. I went to the high street in Edinburgh and compared the Himal against the classic lightline. And its obvious when compared that the himal is a more upmarket product with the box wall baffle construction and a slightly longer cut at the front.

The front pockets are great for keeping hands warm and its a comfortable position for your arms to in.

I was surprised to see on the label that ME uses 90/10 duck down for insulation and not goose down. But the himal is nice, warm and comfy regardless.

I hope this information is helpful and I would recommend the himal over the classic lightline.
