A new body-hugging Hard Shell for challenging alpine climbing all over the world. With almost entirely new equipment features, the Mountain Equipment Kalanka Jacket is in all areas, better. A quantum leap in performance and functionality for mountaineers and rock climbers. The Kalanka jacket features Stretch 3 layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric in order to shrug off the toughest, coldest and most miserable conditions Mother Nature can throw at you.

The Kalanka Jacket is one of the few jackets that is from the latest generation of stretch Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric and Mountain Equipment have produced the first real stretch of the unique properties of micro-grid technology links. The result is a highly waterproof and breathable jacket which can adapt not only to weather conditions but also to what activity the wearer is participating in thus making the Kalanka jacket head and shoulders above others.

The brand new Super Alpine HC hood is used on the Kalanka Jacket. The hood brings a brand new view on the market for those climbing with helmets as it works much better by allowing for lateral and vertical movement of the head so preventing the hood getting in your vision.

Other less obvious features such as the RIRI aqua-zips, articulated sleeves, and the A4 size pockets help to finish off a functional, hard wearing and impressive Gore-Tex jacket from Mountain Equipment.

Gore-Tex Pro Shell

is the top end Gore-Tex fabric, designed for the more demanding conditions and comes in 2 and 3 layer varieties. Gore-Tex Pro Shell has improved abrasion resistance through a careful selection of outer fabrics, with any heat insulation layers suspended freely between the laminate and inner lining on 2 layer fabric and a special, high performance membrane and specially developed inner lining on 3 layer fabrics. Targeted at the outdoor professional Gore-Tex Pro Shell is the most hard wearing of the Gore fabrics.

Helmet Compatible

jackets have hoods which are compatible for use with a helmet. The hood allows four way movement so never inhibiting your vision while reaching or stretching in awkward positions.

RIRI Zippers

are used for technical items where weight cannot be spared. RIRI use a system of meshed plastic teeth which come together and form a hydrostatic seal so making the zips completely waterproof without having to use a storm flap.

A4 Pockets

- Large pockets designed to add storage space so you can fit maps, goggles and other useful items in without feeling extra bulk. The extra space is made by over lapping and tilting pockets to utilise space within the garments.

Articulated

- Products which have articulated sleeves or knees simply mean that the construction of a joint has been manufactured to fit the natural ergonomics of your body therefore increasing the range of movement and flexibility.
