Lamina Construction

Maximising loft is the true measure of synthetic sleeping bag design. Over time, all synthetic bags gradually lose loft due to stuff sack compression and general wear and tear. Designing a synthetic sleeping bag that would retain loft – and warmth – over the long haul became Mountain Hardwear's engineering challenge, and the welded Lamina construction was born.

Rip Stop

This is a lightweight nylon fabric with interwoven rip-stop reinforcement threads in a cross hatch pattern. It is woven with a coarse, strong warp and filling yarns at intervals so that tears will not spread. Rip-stop is used in construction of hot air balloons and yacht sails but in this case very effectively on outdoor clothing.

DWR

Durable Water Repellent, is a coating added to fabrics to help add to their water repellency and shed water and snow more effectively.

Lamina 35 Sleeping Bag

Have just bought this so it has not been properly tried out yet but first impressions are good.

It is notably light weight and does not have a stuff sack as such but instead a bag which is a bit bigger than a stuff sack, so no energy sapping stuffing to do - I think this is a good think - you can still "stuff" it into your rucsack if you which.

So good I bought a second!

This bag packs down really small, yet keeps you warm with a tee shirt through most of 3 seasons. I've used it from March to October with no problems. Quality is good, and the loft stays where you want it.

It's not why you normally buy a bag, but this one is so easy to wash that I don't mind the kids having friends to stay more often because I no longer have to shell out to get the launderette to clean the bag. It fits a domestic machine really easily, and dries quickly in a domestic tumble drier. It's so easy to use I've just bought a spare so the kids can have their friends to stay when they want.
It's not cheap, though I've already saved the cost of the first bag in laundry fees, and it's not the warmest bag, but that makes it ideal for late spring through to autumn and for a spare bed at home.
Super practical and highly recommended.

Lamina 35, great things do come in small packages!

1 of 1 people found this review useful
Yes to be tested to 0 degrees, but so far a great snug sleeping bag, especially given the extremely compact size when in stuff-sack. Also good that you get a separate store sack with it. If you can afford to spend a bit more, want a great synthetic bag in a small package - the lamina is a great choice! Only thing is, if over 6' be sure an go long on size!
