The Rab Expedition 1200 Down Sleeping bag is part of the new range of down sleeping bags from Rab. Perfect for high altitude or winter mountaineering and expeditions in cold weather conditions. Pertex Endurance outer helps keep your sleeping bag dry and a microlight inner keeps you comfortable and the weight down.

The Rab Expedition 1200 sleeping bag uses Pertex Microlight fabric which is very lightweight, strong and durable. It is used with the Rab sleeping bags as it is downproof, as soft as silk, and reduces the packing size by up to 25%. As Pertex Microlight is so light it enables the down in your sleeping bag to loft more easily which means you get warmer faster without adding any extra weight. Pertex Microlight is both downproof, wind proof, water repellent and durable.

Pertex Endurance fabrics are also used in the Expedition 1200 sleeping bag and this is used in order to keep water, snow and wind out. It does this by allowing moisture to pass out freely from the inside keeping your sleeping bag dry from condensation. It is an ultra-light monolithic membrane applied to a durable nylon face fabric and this creates pathways along which moisture can diffuse into the atmosphere.

An angled foot box in the Expedition 1200 allows for extra foot space so not restricting movement and enabling you to keep your toes warm through movement in cold conditions.

A combination of the finest down and incredible technologies come together to create a sleeping bag which is second to none for warmth, comfort, and functionality.

Tech details

Weight: 2000g / 71oz

850 Fill Power

The top end of the market, offering exceptional warmth to weight ratios. 850 fill power is rare and expensive but gives expedition level performance or options for ultralight construction. The high loft down compresses well, keeping pack size down whilst standing up to the most extreme conditions

Pertex Endurance

technology incorporates an ultra-thin membrane with a durable nylon face fabric. This layer is so thin that it hardly adds any weight, nor does it affect the softness of the material considerably.

Pertex Microlight

offers some of the softest and lightest fabric in the Pertex range – essential when grams and ounces count.

YKK Zippers

are used for their robust and water resistant properties. YKK uses the combination of locking teeth together and a PU coated strip to create a barrier between you and the elements.

Rip Stop -

This is a lightweight nylon fabric with interwoven ripstop reinforcement threads in a crosshatch pattern. It is woven with a coarse, strong warp and filling yarns at intervals so that tears will not spread. Ripstop is used in construction of hot air balloons and yacht sails but in this case very effectively on outdoor clothing.

Angled Foot Box

- Sleeping bags with an angled foot box have been made to fit your feet so that you can lie in a natural position making it more comfortable and also to reduce compression of the down and reduce heat loss.

Combination Down Construction

- High Altitude and Expedition down gear tend to use a combination of box walled and stitch through construction to reduce heat loss and spread the down evenly across the product while keeping the down in place. Combining the two construction techniques and the finest down create the warmest and and most effective heat retaining products.
