DL Last

Tested and proven in many of Scarpa’s best selling alpine models, this last provides a higher volume and broader fit, with exceptional all day mountain comfort, regardless of the activity.

HS 12 Reversed Anfibio Leather

The finest, premier leather at 3.0mm plus thickness. Reversed Anfibio offers maximum strength, support and abrasion resistance. There leathers are"reversed" (i.e. with the textured side out and the tanned surface inside). This protects the hides best surface from scuffing and abrasion, which improves durability and water resistance. Reversed Anfibio is a prime quality leather and should not be confused with ordinary leathers or suede. All Scarpa Reversed Anfibio leather has the specialised HS12 tanning treatment which impregnates silicone into the leather, making the leather more water resistant. This treatment is durable and resistant to scuffing, stops the leather from wetting out so easily and dries out faster than traditionally tanned leathers.

Outstanding boots

I bought the Manta because I wanted a bombproof boot with a stiff sole and good grip. The Manta is fantastic - comfortable, outstanding grip even on snow, and great ankle support. The rigid sole means that once you've found a toehold you won't lose it. Simply the best mountain boots I've ever used - the temptation is to use them all the time, which would wear the soles down. For more relaxed walking on mixed roads and tracks, the Trek GTX is a great alternative. But if you're going off road for a day, the Manta is the perfect solution.

Just one niggle: the footbed is not anatomic and can give you a hard ride.

Excellent boot, great for rock, track,or rolling hill. Brilliant for descending on bog or fern/heather slopes. Superb grip on rock, a really solid sturdy boot. On my first outing with my new Scarpa Manta boots I climbed Howling Ridge in the Kerry Reeks mountains which is as steep and difficult as you will find in Ireland and on my second venture I did 7.5 hrs over rock, gully, bog and ridge and they were brilliant. The fit is perfect , lucky try as I bought them on line and I haven't much time for returning them if they were wrong . Ill give them another good test on The Eiger in 3 weeks time. I am totally confident they will be excellent for me, I just know they are a class boot. I ordered them on Sat night and they were under test the following Wed night, you should see pictures of me with my new Scarps, half way up the coyne stoned gable corner of our 2 storey home ! So firm and sure, I couldn't wait for the weekend. Just Mighty.

Well stoked!

I bought these as I am living mainly in the dolomites now, and they do not have any sizes here over 10.5 UK. They are a fantastically well made boot, brilliant ankle support, great for all the stuff here.
Excellent service from these boys, they arrived in London a few days after ordered. Looking forward to knocking up some miles in these babies!

scarpa manta

these boots are a quality product suitable for three season use in scotland can be worn with crampons, and the rubber rand provides good protection over scree and boulder fields
the sole gives good grip and is semi stiff nature allows short term point work
the quality of leather and goretex inner provides excellelnt water proof protection, p.s. do not use dubbin or oil based treatments as this will affect the breathability of the goretex inner.

brillant fit!

First pair of boots that have fitted me straight out of the box.
Solid sole, stiff and supportive. More than a match for an icy dartmoor! Can't comment on crampon fit yet.

Temperature

1 of 1 people found this review useful
I haven't purchased the boots yet, but intend to - the only thing that worries a little is the temperature rating i.e. to -7C - I was in Scotland this last winter and it was at least -18C on the tops (without windchill).
However my mate has a pair he used on the same trip + in the dolomites last year and he's suitably impressed - the best boots (the most important part of one's equipment!) shouldn't be noticed, but just do their job well!
